Teaching Opportunities

Career Development

The Career Development subcommittee sponsors a series of lectures. Each year the group chooses a series of topics, plans the format of the symposium, invites and hosts the guest speakers and advertises the event throughout the NIH. The goal of this committee is to provide NIH fellows the opportunity to examine other career paths. To view this year's seminar schedule, or handouts provided by recent speakers, use the links on the left side of this page.

Career Network

The Fellows' Committee Career Network is an online resource exclusively for NIH Fellows who are looking for career advice in scientific and alternative career fields. The Network is accessible from the Fellows Committee (Felcom) Webpage http://felcom.nih.gov/careers/jobnet/. Information supplied from volunteer contacts (both inside and outside NIH, including NIH alumni) is updated periodically.

Job Fair

The Job Fair subcommittee works with the Office of Intramural Training and Education (OITE) to recruit potential employers to the NIH Job Fair held every October. The NIH Job Fair is held annually in October and is sponsored by OITE. FELCOM members help to compile a list of potentially interesting employers from a previously obtained data list. Each employer must have a current job opening. Following an initial contact from the NIH Foundation, exhibitors are repeatedly contacted by the subcommittee to solicit their participation. Following the fair, the subcommittee along with the Office of Education evaluates the fair.

FAES Teaching Opportunities for Fellows

All NIH fellows are encouraged to share their specialized knowledge with the NIH community through teaching. Unique teaching opportunities are available at the NIH through the Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (FAES). All fellows are eligible for this opportunity. Teaching skills are essential for any career whether in academia, government or the private sector, and teaching at the FAES Graduate School is the perfect resume item to showcase your teaching experience.

  • Go Click here to go to the FAES website for more information, or
  • Go Click here for the online form to add your name to the list of Postdoc Teachers.
(NOTE: signing up on the list does NOT commit you to teaching obligations!)
