The NIH FELCOM Mentoring Subcommittee prepared a survey for distribution in the Spring of 2001 to a randomly selected group of 750 (out of a possible 3100) fellows. The questions of the survey cover several categories that we think are important for a good mentoring relationship:

  • Defining mentor relations
  • Scientific direction and independence
  • Supervisor access and availability
  • Recognition in publications and lab
  • Training and career development
  • Overall quality of mentoring
