Networking is critical to successful job searches, regardless of whether you pursue research or non-research careers. Not only does networking help you find job opportunities, it can provide preliminary information about a particular company or university, and it can help you discover new career directions. Maintaining relationships with your contacts is critical throughout your career, not just when you are actively job-seeking.

The NIH Fellows' Career Network is an online resource exclusively for NIH Fellows who are searching for career contacts. The database is generated through information volunteered from NIH employees, Alumni, and Fellows. Fellows departing NIH are encouraged to post their information and serve as leads for job-seekers. This information is accessible only from within the NIH network. CareerNet is maintained by volunteers from the NIH Fellows Committee. Information supplied from volunteers will be updated periodically.

If you are no longer a fellow and wish to serve as a career contact, expect to be contacted occasionally by fellows seeking advice and information about particular career paths and the type of work that you do. We hope that your participation will benefit you as well, by providing potential future colleagues or candidates for upcoming openings at your facility. At any time if you no longer wish to volunteer, you may contact us and we will remove your information immediately.
